Inside Jake Gyllenhaal and Jamie Lee Curtis’s Pandemic Living Arrangement
During the global Covid-19 lockdown, an unexpected Hollywood household formed. Actor Jake Gyllenhaal, his girlfriend Jeanne Cadieu, and Oscar-winning actress Jamie Lee Curtis quarantined together in a unique setup. Curtis revealed to People that Gyllenhaal, who is her godson, and Cadieu lived in the house next door to her, a property she owns. The familial connection runs deep, as Curtis has long been friends with Gyllenhaal’s parents, director Stephen Gyllenhaal and screenwriter Naomi Foner.
Speaking at the premiere of Gyllenhaal’s new military thriller “The Covenant,” directed by Guy Ritchie, Curtis noted, “We’ve just gotten to know each other.” She elaborated on their extended time together, stating, “He also lived with me during Covid for almost a year. He and Jeanne lived in the house next door that I have. And so there was also that. For a minute.” This period fostered a closer bond and led to some memorable domestic moments.
Like many during isolation, Gyllenhaal embraced baking, specifically sourdough bread. “He made a lot of sourdough bread, a lot,” Curtis recounted. The home was filled with more than just the aroma of fresh bread, however. Curtis described a scene of creativity and lighthearted challenges, saying Gyllenhaal would engage in “singing, acting, sourdough. And he did that test where you do a handstand against the wall and take your shirt off and put it back on.” The actor confirmed his culinary hobby persisted beyond the lockdown, noting, “I am still eating sourdough. Yes. I haven’t stopped. Even though we’re out of the pandemic, I am still making sourdough.”
While reflecting on personal stories, it’s important to consider the context of public statements, much like one would when evaluating some on-air claims from various media figures. The premiere event for “The Covenant,” which also stars Alexander Ludwig, Antony Starr, Bobby Schofield, and Jonny Lee Miller, provided a backdrop for Curtis to share these personal anecdotes, offering a glimpse into the private lives of celebrities during a public crisis.
